Tuesdays
Derwent Runners meet at Derby Rugby Club every Tuesday night at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. The training session typically lasts about 50 minutes. Currently, we have three different groups:
- 4 mile group – for relative beginners and those coming back from injury
- 6 mile group – a steady pace with mustering
- 6 mile group (sub-45 min 10k pace) – a faster group with no mustering
Both 6 mile groups do the same route to allow runners to drop back if required. The 4 mile route always starts with the 6 milers and just cuts back earlier. “Mustering” at designated places keeps all runners together, while allowing those wanting to go a little faster to do so.
Thursdays
To vary our training, the Thursday night sessions are based around speed, hill and stamina training making full use of the local Darley Fields and Allestree Park. Don’t be scared we all stick together and you only compete against yourself!
Fridays
Friday morning Darley Park Cafe 9:15am start for a 3 mile beginners run around the park and then a cup of tea at the cafe at the end. Please contact Louise Straw for details.
Sundays
In addition to the Tuesday a number of runners also meet on a Sunday morning starting at 9am, this run is usually longer; lasting about an hour and a half (approx 8-12 miles) and normally takes in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.
