Why do I run? Lose weight, to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without being breathless

Year started running: 2000 (as a hobby, im not including cross country which was forced running at school). Year joined Derwent Runners: 2008 Reason for joining Derwent Runners? To try to get fit, meet some new people and to get out and see the fantastic Derby countryside. Why do I run? Escapism, running clears the mind and allows you to forget all your stresses and worries of life. Longest distance achieved: 13.1 miles Number of races per year:1-2 races per year, but hoping to increase. Favourite Race: To date, Gt North Run (the last mile is fantastic), however i expect this to change over the years. Favourite terrain: Combination of road, grass, bridlepath - Variety its the spice of life. Best piece of running advice? Take your mind off running by chatting to people, regulates the breathing and does not allow your mind to win the battle of brain vs tiredness.
